The NV5 Utility Services Department likes to promote from within and will train the proper applicant.ResponsibilitiesSeeking a full-time Utility Services Technician II (utility locator). This individual will use industry specific equipment to locate a variety of underground utilities safely and efficiently on utility services projects. Also, the technician will be visiting project sites to verify existing utilities. The most frequent and essential work activities include:
- Location of underground utilities such as water, gas, power, fiber optic, and telephone.
- Identification of utility sizes, materials, and types.
- Work as part of a two to four man crew.
- Collection of existing conditions information for the assessment and identification of underground utilities.
- Assist with operation and maintenance of vacuum excavation truck.
- Be knowledgeable of the quality levels of SUE and how to differentiate between each one.
- Ability to help implement new technologies and methods.
- Provide support for land survey in the creation of topographic maps.
- Associates degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software; Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to type.
- Familiar of IOS operating system, a plus.
- Familiar with AutoCAD and Microstation, a plus.
- 1-3 years of utility designation experience
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment
- Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time)
