The Controls Engineer is a member of a team of electric and controls professionals, responsible for design, integration, start-up, testing and maintenance of an industrial control systems. This role places a heavy emphasis on the development and design of industrial press and automation software and controls. These controls projects are in general mission-critical and require a strong commitment to on-time delivery. Projects range from software modifications to complete equipment and system upgrades, including new electrical hardware, control PCs, PLCs, HMIs and integrated safety systems. Service and supporting roles, as outlined below, are also an integral part of this position.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software design and development
- Responsible to establish all possible options for designing and developing the best functional and economical solutions based on sound analytical judgment and team input.
- Responsible for following and implementing all applicable standards and customer requirements, including local and national safety standards.
- Accountable for writing transparent code that is highly reusable, modular, and maintainable.
- Understand and map all functional requirements of a control system prior to design start. Create project outlines and gain approval from team members and customers.
- Develop and maintain PC based equipment and motion control software based on Beckhoff TwinCat.
- Develop and maintain PLC equipment control and safety software, based on a variety of programmable controllers, such as Siemens S7F and TIA, Allen Bradley ControlLogix and GuardLogix and others.
- Develop HMI software based on Siemens WinCC and WinCC Flexible, Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View and others.
- Develop software according to functional and technical design specifications as described in corresponding project sales documents, contracts and project outlines.
- Initiate the review and approval process for software as outlined in contracts with customers.
- Initiate the review and approval process for software delivered by 3rd party suppliers.
- Responsible to implement software onsite within the predetermined time frame.
- Author technical documentation such as operator manuals and technical training handbooks.
- Support the Field Service Group in preparation of installations and software updates.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to Schuler field service technicians and engineers.
- Troubleshoot customers problems remotely and onsite.
- Assist onsite installation if required.
- Participate in on-call service program.
- Occasional service calls may be required.
- Visit customers on occasional sales or project meetings.
- Perform as Project Manager on specific jobs based on assignment by the Service Engineering Manager.
- Prepare and facilitate technical training programs for internal and external customers.
- Interface with the customer as needed to resolve issues and technical concerns.
- Supports new machine sales with technical information when requested.
- Bachelor degree preferred
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in designing industrial control systems, preferably in the field of hydraulic and mechanical power presses and press automation systems
- Experience with Beckhoff TwinCat; Allen Bradley RS Logix 5, 500, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk-View; Siemens S7, TIA Portal, WinCC, WinCC Flexible
- Experience with Motion Control
- Experience with industrial networking such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and EtherCat
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office 2010
- Familiar with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Ability to travel, nationally and abroad. Must be able and willing to travel.
- Able to facilitate discussions and give presentations with highly technical content. Presents clearly and informatively.

- Maintain technical proficiency and code expertise in the LNG field (49CFR193, NFPA 59A, ASME B31.3, BPVC Section VIII)
- Develop cost estimates and proposals in response to client requests
- Development of drawings for fabrication and construction of plant piping and equipment systems in collaboration with the engineering and design team. This may include interdisciplinary work with civil, electrical, process, and controls project groups to optimize design
- Travel to sites approximately 10-15% of the time
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors and co-workers
- Ability to manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary project team
- Experience in design of cryogenic, natural gas, petrochemical, oil, or power systems
- Previous work specifying pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, heaters, coolers, boilers, or pressure vessels
- Site or field experience installing, operating, or troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to set priorities, to be self-disciplined and consistent
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Computer literacy in MS Office and MS Project

- BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
- 8+ years’ experience

The Plant Supervisor works with the other terminal employees to achieve safe, reliable and efficient operations.The Plant Supervisor must understand all facets of LNG (or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids) transportation, storage and processing including safety and security, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. In-depth knowledge of plant operating procedures, equipment, maintenance protocols, governmental regulations and related technical and safety codes and standards is required.RESPONSIBLITIES:1. Manages a multi-disciplined operations team responsible for supporting 24/7 terminal environment where compliance to policy, procedures and dedication is essential to success and staff work 12-hour daily rotational shift environment, including holiday, weekends, and nights.2. Promotes safety and environmental compliance at all times by ensuring that all safety and environmental policies and procedures are developed and enforced.3. Monitors and controls the operation of natural gas vaporizers; natural gas process systems; loading LNG trucks; unloading LNG to ensure personnel perform all tasks safely and adhering to the applicable operating procedure(s).4. Available for weekend and after hours calls from on-duty personnel pertaining to equipment repairs and outages.15. Directs company operations, when designated, for the Plant Manager during his absence from the terminal.16. Develops, maintains, and utilizes contacts with other LNG Liquefaction terminals, both domestic and abroad, for continued exchange of information involving maintenance and operations activities.17. Develops spare part inventory for critical components and, when/if necessary, sharing agreements with other LNG company terminals to identify efficiencies and cost-effective programs.18. Identify and recommend staffing-related activities including recruiting, interviewing, selection, hiring, discipline, development, training, promotions, salary changes, leaves and terminations and discuss with the Plant Manager.19. Communicates with and coordinates company activities with federal, state and local agencies and outside organizations such as the United States Coast Guard, Department of Transportation, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and local law enforcement.20. Develops and implements employee-training programs for skill development and regulatory compliance. Develops programs in both individual and group formats.Position Requirements1. Education and Certifications: Bachelor or Associate degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline or equivalent work experience.2. Experience: At least three (3) years of maintenance engineering and one (1) year of process or project engineering and an ability to display competent knowledge and a skillset in mechanical equipment operation (i.e. compressors, pumps, gauges, instrumentation, etc.)3. Skills: Exceptional leadership and administrative abilities are required. An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
