This position provides the opportunity to be an integral member of a multi-discipline design team, looking for exposure to the various disciplines required for advancing transportation related projects; including highway/roadway design, stormwater/drainage, traffic, survey, environmental and structures.Our multi-discipline design team approach will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to pursue a path, which aligns with their particular strengths and interest as their career advances. We currently have a wealth of interesting projects, from local road resurfacing to large-scale highway improvements, intersection improvements, pedestrian/ADA accommodation designs, as well as several specialized projects involving amphibian roadway crossing infrastructure, design of pedestrian/bicycle paths and raised boardwalks thru environmentally sensitive areas. This position provides an excellent opportunity for career growth.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Work under the supervision and mentoring of Supervising and Project Manager level engineering staff on project tasks such as;
  • Preparation of roadway/highway design and plan development from conceptual design to final contract plans. Typical tasks include horizontal and vertical layout, typical sections, profiles, grading, cross sections, maintenance and protection of traffic and construction plan preparation.
  • Support in the preparation of technical reports and studies, including Concept Development and Final Design Reports.
  • Lead project field visits to perform condition assessments and inventory of substandard/critical design elements.
  • Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, specification support, and utility coordination.
  • Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, maintenance and protection of traffic and construction staging plans, supplemental specifications, and utility coordination.
  • Collect and analyzes data
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline design engineers and technician.
  • Under the mentoring of supervising engineers, become familiar with Project Management basic skills pertaining to project budgets and schedules, and adherence to a project’s scope of work.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical societies.
Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of experience (roadway/civil engineering)
  • Experience with Microstation InRoads
  • EIT Certification is desired
  • NJ PE License a plus

Responsibilities:NV5, is seeking a full-time Transportation Project Engineer, for our Orlando, FL office. The Project Engineer will be expected to complete project tasks within deadlines and work within allotted project budgets. This individual will also assist with mentoring junior transportation staff. The most frequent and essential work activities include:
  • Provide roadway design and plans production assistance to the transportation design group.
  • Strong communication skills including both written and verbal.
  • Ensure NV5 QA/QC processes are followed.
  • Assist in marketing efforts for NV5 to FDOT and local municipalities to obtain new contracts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Florida PE license
  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in transportation engineering design and plans production for municipal and private clients
  • FDOT design experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads/FDOT Connect/3D modeling preferred
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment is preferred
