Job DescriptionWithin the Powertrain Solutions division in Farmington Hills, MI, BOSCH is improving the quality of life by working to bring zero emission propulsion systems to the North American market (and globally) together with our OEM partners. A leading technology, especially for large commercial vehicle applications such as long-haul trucks, Hydrogen Fuel cells produce electricity via an electrochemical conversion of hydrogen gas and oxygen, with the only exhaust byproduct being water and heat.As a Fuel Cell System Simulation Intern the ideal candidate would be part of a global team developing Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell stacks for Light Commercial Vehicle, Medium Duty trucks, and Heavy-Duty trucks for the US/North American market. Responsible for running system and sub-module level fuel cell system simulations and developing methods to analyze field test data regarding the Fuel Cell stack performance over lifetime.Responsibilities:

  • Update PEM fuel cell stack simulation models for various power requirements and applications.
  • Sub-system level simulation for Anode, Cathode, Cooling, and/or Electrical system and integrations for system level simulation.
  • Accuracy improvement on simulation models with test-bench and in-vehicle test data.
  • Development of real-world FC power profile based on different FC-Battery hybrid strategy.
  • Data collection from test benches or vehicles and support customer FCEV testing activities.
  • Document the simulation model updates and share results with internal customers.

We are looking for engineers…

  • Who are good communicators; able to explain complex engineering processes in simple terms to non-engineers in verbal, written, and visual forms
  • That have a team-oriented, self-directed personality and strong inter-personal and organizational skills
  • Who are willing to learn via various methods, including external courses, internal seminars (Local and abroad), and self-driven means

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program – Bachelors, Masters, or PhD. in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or alternative energy disciplines.
  • Fuel cell System / Stack simulation experience in at least one of tools such as Matlab/Simulink, AMESIM, Python, or GT-Suite.
  • Desired: Experience with calibration tools and SW such as ETAS INCA
