Job Description:Support for the Center for Experiential Learning:
In collaboration with the Director, gathers information from department stakeholders including students, advising staff, faculty, administration, and alumni to be used in updating current or creating new programs and resources. Gathers/creates printed materials and other items to be displayed and used in Center for Experiential Learning Suite. Attends workshops, webinars, meetings at department, college and university levels relevant to experiential learning. Coordinates with other units including Career Connection Center to host and promote Center for Experiential Learning events.Assists in developing and implementing procedures for student organizations and individual students to utilize HWCOE meeting spaces, classrooms, makerspaces, machine shops, and other facilities within UF operating policies and in collaboration with the HWCOE Director for Safety.In collaboration with the Director, compiles and analyzes experiential learning related data. Prepares student-related reports, conducts relevant surveys. Conducts regular evaluation of effectiveness of center programs. Prepares and provides data for the Director of Experiential Learning on a regular basis in reporting of performance of the HWCOE Center for Experiential Learning.Handles email, other correspondence, walk-in help, telephone calls, mail, and schedules meetings as appropriate to the position. Responds to inquiries from enrolled and prospective students and the public concerning engineering experiential learning and provides appropriate answers to referrals. Establishes and maintains files of office correspondence, documents, reports, and other records.Support for HWCOE International Programs:
Supports the Director of the HWCOE International Programs. Advises international exchange students visiting the HWCOE and helps them register for courses, working in collaboration with Departments & Faculty across the HWCOE to find appropriate seats in courses, and check student qualifications, etc.Assist the HWCOE Director of International Programs in scheduling and presenting at information sessions for HWCOE students interested in study abroad, research abroad or internships abroad. Advises HWCOE students in helping them with an eight-semester academic plan to incorporate UF abroad experiences in their degree progression.Supports the HWCOE International Programs office with generating reports, scheduling of information sessions, and website updates as needed. Assist the Director of International Programs in review of student applications for study abroad and study abroad scholarships as needed.Course Management and Instruction:
Responsible for development, oversight, and instruction of select HWCOE courses, including EGS1006 Introduction to Engineering. Will collaborate with HWCOE departments/faculty/staff as needed for keeping EGS1006 up to date and ensure it is delivered successfully for UF students and high school dual enrollment students. Course management and instructional duties can include other HWCOE courses, including study abroad courses (based upon time commitment and approvals by Director of Experiential Learning and Associate Dean of Students).Will assist with the development and delivery of non-credit, co-curricular short courses and workshop trainings that support the mission of the HWCOE Center for Experiential Learning. May assist with the instruction of HWCOE summer bridge program and prospective student seminars and short courses related to experiential learning. Will help with creation and instruction of HWCOE information sessions for UF-wide programs such as Florida Days and Preview as needed.Undergraduate Advising:
Serve as an advisor within the Center for Experiential learning to assist and advise undergraduate students and student organizations with experiential learning planning as part of their HWCOE experience. Help students with an experiential learning plan to integrate into their 8-semester degree plan to benefit their growth and expand their qualifications and strengthen their resume towards becoming graduate of the HWCOE. Assist students with documenting and measuring their participation in experiential learning.Expected to perform independently with limited supervision. Position reports to the Director of Experiential Learning in the Office of Undergraduate Student Affairs. Meets regularly with the Director of Experiential Learning to report on programs within the offices.
Expected Salary:$67,000-$75,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Requirements:Master’s degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree and six years of relevant experience.Doctorate or Master’s degree in a relevant field to undergraduate students and experiential learning.
